AFS History and Alaska Chapter Information
The American Fisheries Society was founded in 1870, and is the oldest and largest professional society representing fisheries scientists. AFS promotes scientific research and enlightened management of resources. The Alaska Chapter is one of the largest chapters of AFS with over 400 members, and currently supports a comprehensive taxonomic key to Alaska's fishes and providing members with a network for employment, training, and funds.
