This is an early reminder and a call for presenters for the Anuual AFS Student Symposium coming up in late April.
It will be MONDAY, April 27th , most likely be an all day event!
For those of you that don't know the AFS Student Symposium is an opportunity for students to present their research in a setting similar to that of a professional meeting. Students will talk for 15 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for questions. Since the objective of this symposium is to learn, students will be evaluated by professionals and a Best Student presentation will be chosen. This is a great opportunity to practice your public speaking skills and to let others in the Juneau scientific community know about your research.
This year our symposium coincides with our new building dedication, so there may be a larger crowd, BUT it would be a GREAT opportunity to showcase our research here in Juneau and to make some contacts.
WE WANT TO MAKE THE SCHOOL AND OUR PROGRAM LOOK GOOD so PLEASE consider presenting, even if you're still in the planning steps of your project. The presentations can include proposed work, preliminary results, and finished projects! DON'T be shy!
Please E-mail me (k.palof@uaf.edu) and let me know if you are willing to present ASAP, but definitely by Tuesday March 17th (St. Patrick's Day!). I'm taking volunteers now, but if I don't get enough I will turn to coercive persuasion by your advisers! E-mail either me or Lisa, if you have comments or questions!
Thanks!
Katie (k.palof@uaf.edu) and Lisa (l.kamin@uaf.edu)
